Good Morning,
The holiday season is a time filled with joy, celebration, and togetherness. For Christians, it is also a season of deep spiritual significance, marked by the anticipation of Advent and the celebration of Christmas, yet it is easy to feel overwhelmed or even spiritually adrift. Psalm 34:18, written by King David, reminds us that: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
The holiday season brings a whirlwind of activities: shopping for gifts, hosting or attending gatherings, preparing elaborate meals, and striving to create a perfect picture experience for loved ones. From family gatherings and social expectations to financial pressures and the quest for meaningful traditions, the holidays can test one’s endurance and resilience.
Surviving the holiday season often requires emotional and mental fortitude, as it can highlight loneliness or grief—especially for those who have lost loved ones or are estranged from family. Building resilience during the holidays means recognizing your limitations, practicing self-care, seeking support when necessary, and setting healthy boundaries.
The strong survive by focusing on meaningful experiences over material possessions. Surviving the holiday season with strength is about perspective—embracing moments of joy, connection, and generosity, while accepting that stress and challenges are also part of the experience. The strong find gratitude in small pleasures and seek opportunities to help others, spreading kindness and understanding during a time when many may be struggling in silence.
Surviving the holiday season as a Christian is about more than enduring the chaos; it is about embracing the opportunity to grow in faith, love, and joy. Christians can navigate the season with resilience and gratitude. In doing so, they not only survive the holidays but also shine as beacons of hope and light for others to see.
